What membership makes possible

Most DPC (Direct Primary Care) practices offer the same medicine, just without insurance. Countercurrent offers a different kind of medicine entirely.

• Scheduled check-ins throughout the year. We don’t wait for something to go wrong. Follow-up visits are built in, typically at six months, so nothing drifts and nothing gets lost.
• Preventive care with real discussion. Not just “you’re due for this.” We look at the evidence together, talk through the nuance, and decide what actually makes sense for your life right now.
• Health planning conversations. Like financial planning, but for your health. What are your goals? What matters most? What can wait? We build a plan and revisit it over time.
• Lifestyle factors as part of the picture. Sleep, movement, nutrition, stress, substances, relationships. We check in on these as part of your care, not as a lecture or a separate program.
• Room to explore questions over time. Curious about something? Bring it. Thoughtful rabbit holes are welcome here, just paced. We’ll research it and discuss it next visit.
• Care that adapts to your preferences. Medication, lifestyle change, therapy, supplements, watchful waiting. We decide together, based on what feels right to you in the moment, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

What you get

• 45-60 minute visits. Enough time to tell your whole story and for us to truly hear it.
• Unlimited visits. No rationing your health concerns to fit arbitrary limits.
• Direct access to your physician. Questions and concerns come directly to us through secure messaging. No phone trees. No gatekeepers.
• Thoughtful communication. We respond to messages within two business days, usually sooner.
• Continuity. You see a physician who knows you. We know your story because we have been part of it.
• Telemedicine, phone, and in-person options. Whatever works for the visit at hand.

What this practice does not provide

Clarity matters. Here is what falls outside the scope of this membership:

• Same-day visits or urgent care. This practice is designed for planned, relationship-based care. If you need urgent evaluation, you will need urgent care or emergency services. We do our best to respond to messages within two business days, but we cannot guarantee same-day responses or appointments.
• 24/7 access or after-hours coverage. We are available during business hours. For after-hours emergencies, please contact urgent care, emergency services, or 911.
• In-office labs, medication dispensing, immunizations, or procedures. We don’t draw labs, dispense meds, or perform procedures in-office, but we’ll order what you need and point you to trusted local options.
• Daily opioid or benzodiazepine prescriptions. These medications require same-day response capacity this practice does not provide. We may prescribe other controlled medications selectively. For higher-complexity controlled substance needs, we refer to appropriate specialists.
• Medicare patients. We are unable to provide medical services to Medicare beneficiaries at this time. We are developing the Countercurrent Health Compass Program, a health coaching offering for Medicare patients. Check back soon.

As a founding member, you are building this practice with us. Your rate is locked.

Monthly Membership

• Adult: $95/month
• Child (with adult member): $45/month
• Family maximum: $300/month

Enrollment Fee (one-time)

• $75 per person

Membership Terms

• Membership requires a minimum initial commitment of three months.
• You will be billed monthly. After the initial three-month period, membership continues month-to-month and may be canceled at any time.

Membership fees are HSA-eligible.
